It is the third largest city in Cyprus and, with 340 days of sunshine, a popular travel destination, as well as a port with a long history. Proof of the 8000-year-old history can be seen all over the “Island of Aphrodite”. At one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus, the Petra tou Romiou, the goddess of beauty and love supposedly emerged from the sea. However, perfect storybook idyll can be found not only at the “Rock of the Roman” – impressively spectacular cliffs are spread across the whole island as well as giant limestone rocks that rise up from the ground on sandy beeches that stretch for miles. In the middle is the sea, which shimmers in countless shades of blue in the sun. Culinary delights are definitely not lacking here either: Cypriote cuisine and the island’s wine have been respected for centuries.
