Top-level changes at Helvetic Airways
Helvetic Airways has made changes in its management at the start of 2023. With effect from 16 January, the management team has been expanded from two to three members, and now consists of the CEO, the COO Flight Operations and the COO Part 145 (Maintenance). Nicolas Bachmann has been appointed COO Flight Operations, while former COO Simon Schatzmann has taken up a new staff function within Business Development.
Helvetic Airways has made changes to the structure and the composition of its management with effect from 16 January. The management team now consists of CEO Tobias Pogorevc, the COO Flight Operations and the COO Part 145 (Maintenance).
Nicolas Bachmann has been appointed COO Flight Operations. With 16 years of Helvetic Airways service, he can draw on a wealth of varied experience within the company in his new capacity, be it as a commander or through the numerous further functions he has held, most recently as Nominated Person Training and Deputy Accountable Manager Flight Operations. Nicolas Bachmann succeeds Simon Schatzmann, who held the position of COO/Accountable Manager Flight Operations for the past eight years and now takes on new duties within Business Development.
The third member of the newly expanded Helvetic Airways management team is René Mamet, who will continue to serve in his existing capacity as COO Part 145. With more than 20 years of previous experience in aircraft maintenance, René Mamet joined Helvetic as Head of Maintenance in mid-2020, assuming overall responsibility for all maintenance activities within the company’s own Zurich hangar.

- René Mamet, Chief Operating Officer & Accountable Manager Part 145
Swiss regional airline Helvetic Airways provides a range of short- and medium-haul air services from various Swiss airports. The carrier deploys its Embraer E190-E2, E195-E2 and E190-E1 aircraft on scheduled, charter and wet-lease flights. At least six Helvetic Airways Embraer E190-E2s and E195-E2s are being operated in winter 2023/24 and summer 2024 on behalf of Swiss International Air Lines in summer 2023 under a long-term wet-lease agreement.
The Helvetic Airways workforce numbers over 510 employees. The company also has its own maintenance hangar and operation at Zurich Airport, which is further home to its corporate head office. The airline offers innovative part-time employment models to its cockpit and cabin personnel.
